Only the blissfully ignorant or the insanely confident would forgo automated testing in a modern development project. Automated acceptance testing reduces time wasted in manual testing and bug fixing, and when combined with Behaviour-Driven Development, they can also guide and validate development effort. But it requires skill, practice and discipline to get them right, and many teams struggle with tests that are fragile and hard to maintain.
The Screenplay Pattern applies SOLID design principles to automated acceptance testing to address these difficulties, resulting in tests that are significantly easier to read, to write and to maintain. Serenity BDD is an open source library designed to help you write better, more effective automated acceptance tests, and use these acceptance tests to produce high quality test reports and living documentation. In this workshop, you will learn how Serenity and its support for the Screenplay Pattern, helps you write clean, highly readable and easily maintainable tests built out of highly reusable business tasks and actions.
